In September 1998 Guitarist Wör and Bassist Vermin, who had previously played in the band Sacramentary Abolishment ('93 &endash; '98), formed a new band. They enjoyed playing together a great deal, as over the years, each had learned how the other approaches his musical creations, and therefore writing together had become a powerful experience.
To begin, they took some compositions that were to be used as new S.A. material, and revamped them. Adding more feeling, and more brutality, they ended up with about half an album worth of material. J. Read enlisted soon after he was approached by Axis of Advance to add his Warhammers to the fold. His longevity in the scene, as well as his insane participation in bands like Revenge and Conqueror etc. proved that his recruitment as a session drummer turned out to be integral.
Three months after this militant trio formed the unit, they entered Powersound Studios in Edmonton, AB to record their first 'official' release. Entitled 'Landline', the three-song MCD contains about eighteen minutes of the most severe war metal to be heard.
One month later, 'Landline' was released, and Axis of Advance was back recording, preparing one new track. This song, entitled 'Tactics Forth', was created and recorded so that Axis of Advance could take part in the Elite compilation that was called "Awaiting the Glorious Damnation of Mankind." Recording at their rehearsal studio ensured that the sounds would be unlike any brutality unleashed before. After much delay, this 7" EP was finally released in early 2001.
Axis of Advance then wrote a full album worth of new material for a 1-album deal with Spanish label 'Death To Mankind Records'. Thus, in November of 2000, Axis of Advance began recording 'Strike'. This process was long and challenging, but the final result was released in November of 2001.
In February 2002, with enough material written to begin working on the follow up full length, Axis of Advance agreed to a 2-album deal with French label 'Osmose Productions'. The new album will be available in mid to late 2002.
