C'est avec les moyens qu'il faut, en terme de production, que Dementor revient à la
charge nous laminer les neurones ( ou leurs ombres ). Andy Classen ( Krisiun, Tan-kard ) a
été mis au poste de producteur, et cette fois-ci, ça fait mal, trés mal, alors
qu'avant, c'était déjà le cas Il aura fallu du temps aux Slovaques pour sortir un
produit aussi professionnel, mais n'en doutez pas, les galéres de toutes sortes n'ont
fait qu'envenimer le coté démoniaque de René, le leader de cette horde maléfique.
Alors le résultat final est à la hauteur des espérances, effaçant les productions
approximatives du passé. Pour ceux qui sont adeptes du martelage intensif eh bien ! vous
ne serez pas déçus. Alors que dans la passé, le marteau piqueur était dans la rue d'à
coté ( si l'on fait référence au son ), aujourd'hui il se trouve être à votre
domicile, c'est joli comme illustration ça ? Les Deicide et autres larons de Satan n'ont
qu'à bien se tenir, car Dementor posséde ici les arguments pour concurrencer tout ce qui
bouge. Espérons maintenant que le line-up tiendra le temps d'une tournée à cette
cadence infernal, car tout curieux qui se respecte, voudra voir le carnage sur scéne. On
vous attend messieurs !

DEMENTOR - God defamer
Kompromisslos brutal, vernichtend vehement und durchgehend am Drängeln auf der
Ðberholspur des Zerstörungspfades - diese Slowaken sind sich und ihrem brachialen Death
Metal wahrlich treu geblieben. ÑGod defamer", ihre neueste blasphemische
Knüppel-Orgie, reiht sich daher nahtlos in die bisherigen Veröffentlichungen der Band
ein. Mit einem kleinen, aber feinen Unterschied: Dementor haben musikalisch bzw.
spieltechnisch für ihre aktuellen Kompositionen einen ordentlichen Zacken zugelegt, wie
es scheint. So wurde das entfesselte Rumpel-Stakkato der Vergangenheit zugunsten
anspruchsvollerer Spielkultur etwas modifiziert, die titan-ähnlichen Härtegrade des
Trios wurden dem entgegen aber beibehalten - wenn nicht sogar noch weiter verfestigt. Hin
und wieder bauen diese slowakischen Schleifer auch auf ÑGod defamer" ihre schon
gewohnt melodischen Soli ein, rar gestreut, aber dafür jedes Mal überraschend harmonisch
gehalten. Ansonsten regiert erneut die unerbittlich prügelnde Dornenkeule, und die tanzt
dir auch diesmal auf dem Schädel, dass es nur so kracht. Im Stage One-Studio aufbereitet,
weisen Dementor endlich eine entsprechend bissige Produktion auf, die der Urgewalt ihrer
Qualhymnen adäquat gerecht wird.

Auparavant condamné à jouer les seconds couteaux en raison d'une production
défaillante, Dementor a décidé de prendre le probléme à bras le corps (du Christ) et
de s'adjoindre les services d'Andy Classen (Tankard, Dew Scented, Krisiunö) pour
"metre en son" sa quatriéme campagne d'éradication du christianisme. Un choix
judicieux puisque God Defamer bénéficie d'une production limpide qui sert à merveille
le death brutal et particuliérement véloce des slovaques. Au programme : blast-beats à
tous les étages, double caisse omniprésente, riffs sombres, harmoniques stridentes et
soli à la tierce pour neuf pamphlets blasphématoires condensés en une grosse demi-heure
au cours de laquelle les oreilles, les chrétiens, et a fortiori les oreilles des
chrétiens en prennent pour leur grade. On eût aimé pouvoir souffler à mi-chemin tant
le laminage est intense. Las, le trio ne nous a pas ménagé la moindre minute de répitö

Osmose Productions lassen mit Dementor ein weiteres Brett auf die Death Metal Meute los.
Die seit 1988 wütenden Slowaken müssten der Gemeinde spätestens seit dem Vorgänger
Enslave The Weak ein Begriff sein und lassen auch mit God Defamer kein Auge antrocknen.
Für ihren nun zweiten Output bei Osmose, enterten die Brutalos das renommierte Stage One
Studio und für die Produktion stand natürlich kein geringerer als Andy Classen (Dew
Scented, Krisiun) zur Verfügung. Die saubere Abmischarbeit funktioniert gut mit dem
Songwriting des Trios und trägt ihren Teil zur gnadenlos brutalen Stimmung der Scheibe
bei. Auf God Defamer erwartet den Hörer purer, blasphemischer Death Metal ohne
Verschnaufpause und unnötige Schnörkelpassagen. Dementor hauen mächtig auf die Kacke.
Blastbeats und gewitterndes Riffing müssten bei Zweiflern alle Zweifel aus dem Weg
räumen. Die Songstrukturen und die obskuren Gitarrensoli erinnern stellenweise an alte
Morbid Angel Scheiben. Man darf also zugreifen, sollte allerdings nicht ein wirklich
innovatives und abwechslungsreiches Album erwarten.

Fifth album (forth CD) of this 16 years old Slovak band, God Defamer is the kind of album
that will enthral every fans of Death metal in the Deicide vein. This album is a 33
minutes of pure exhibition of anti-Christian brutality. Ultra-fast all long the album,
drumbeats are executed with vivacity and precision. Vocals are extremely deep and
profound. With a hint of raucousness, Blahusiak's vocals only add to the savageness of
this piece of work. Guitars emphases the dark side too. The more often loud and heavy,
guitar riffs are intersected by clear and flowing solos. They're splendidly covering the
lack of bass. The production of the album could have been better, but it is surely
pleasing. The artwork of the album, executed by GRAAL (Behemoth, Enslaved, Marduk...) is
extraordinary as we are accustomed with them. Brilliantly blasphemous, this is surely a
great and efficient album to trim your collection.

Was zunächst als recht solides aber eben nicht überragendes Tondokument beginnt steigert
sich im weiteren Verlauf in ein wirklich durchschlagendes Death-Metal-Inferno, was sich
immer näher in die Nähe solch genialer Bands wie KRISIUN bewegt. Die Rede ist von
"God Defamer", dem aktuellen Album des slovakischen Trios DEMENTOR, welches hier
einen groþen Schritt in Richtung Death-Metal-Spitze gemacht hat. Um jedoch dorthin zu
gelangen, hätte man die gesamte und eigentlich viel zu knappe halbe Stunde lang auf einem
so hohen Niveau musizieren sollen wie man es später bei den geilen Uptempo-Bangern
'Devilish Obsession' und 'Harvster Of Christian Souls' so eindrucksvoll praktiziert. Mit
'Slaying Grace' und 'God Defamer' stehen nämlich zwei Tracks am Anfang von "God
Defamer", die zwar schon die technische Brillianz der Slovaken nach auþen kehren,
aber insgesamt eher durch monotone Riffs und uninspirierten Gesang auffallen. Da wundert
man sich anschlieþend wenn bei 'My Ally Anger' plötzlich alles gut wird und die Band
über geschickte Tempowechsel, tolle Soli und einem astreinen Midtempo-Bang-Part den Weg
in die richtige Richtung antritt. Plötzlich sitzen die Riffs, das Gebrüll kommt weitaus
wuchtiger aus den Boxen und die anfangs schon sehr starken Blasts fühlen sich auf einmal
in einem ebenbürtiegn instrumentalen Fundament zu Hause. Natürlich schaffen es DEMENTOR
auch bei diesen Kompsotionen nicht am Thron der brasilanischen Death-Metal-Götter zu
kratzen, jedoch bieten sie hier eine wohlbekömmliche Alternative zu KRISIUN und Co. und
können mit ihrem brutalen, antichristlichen death Metal auf voller Linie überzeugen.
Mit 'Unholy Hordes Of Rot' endet das Album leider wieder genau so unspektakulär wie es
begonnen hat, kann aber auch zu diesem Zeitpunkt nicht mehr darüber hinegttäuschen, dass
wir es hier mit einer wirklich starken Band zu tun haben, die lediglich noch an der
Konstanz ihres Materials arbeiten muss. Sollte sich dies in Zukunft zum besseren wenden,
dann darf man von DEMENTOR noch so einiges erwarten; bis dahin ist man mit "God
Defamer" trotz der genannten Kritikpunkte aber auch ziemlich gut bedient.

Avec l'ouverture du Marché Commun à 25, on se dit que l'on va être arrosé de produits
venant des pays de l'Est, et franchement, on en redemande si tous les disques originaires
de ces pays reculés pouvaient être de cet acabit ! DEMENTOR, avec ce God Defarmer
cataclysmique, a enfin enclenché la cinquième pour venir nous ravager les cages à miel
! God Defarmer n'est pas la première offensive du groupe slovaque, mais le moins que l'on
puisse dire, c'est que jusqu'à maintenant, le son de leurs albums était quelque peu
pourri. La donne a enfin évolué, et gr‚ce à l'appui d'Osmose Prod, le groupe s'est
adjoint les services d'Andy Classen (Tankard, Dew Scented, Krisiun...) : du coup, le son
de cet album de pur brutal death est tout simplement excellent. Cela permet au groupe,
gr‚ce à des compos comme 'Slaying Grace', 'The Mighty Evil' ou 'Harvester Of
Christian Souls', de pouvoir déclencher sa guerre à la Chrétienté de fort belle
manière, à coup de blast-beats tonitruants, de solos dissonnants faisant d'ailleurs
assez penser à ceux de Morbid Angel, et surtout de riffs aussi incisifs que la dentition
d'un loup, lancé à corps perdu sur un groupe de moines ! Certains pourront regretter un
léger manque de diversité, car les passages mid tempos se font rares ; mais après tout,
ce disque est réservé aux amateurs de grande brutalité et composé pour foutre le feu
au Vatican, pas pour les doomsters dépressifs ! Un must en matière de brutal death, que
ce new DEMENTOR...

Of course, DEMENTOR have invented nothing... but wait a minute, what a KILL this album
really is! I already dug their previous effort ('Enslave The Weak') a lot because it
resurrected the MORBID ANGEL of old quite a bit, while their pre-Osmose days left me in a
blank state. This time, the sound has evolved a little (due certainly to line up changes,
with only founding member René still present today within the DEMENTOR ranks) and the
style is more straight forward than before, think of brutal Death Metal the American way,
but with a touch of finesse and a crispier sound quality. These Slovakian butchers know
how to play the Death and at no moment the band can be caught playing dull or mediocre. In
fact the intensity throughout the whole disc reaches insane proportions: be prepared to an
orgy of demented riffs, manic drumming and really hallucinated vocals. The production,
this time courtesy of knobs master Andy Classen, is faultless (far better than on 'Enslave
The Weak'), the songs are kept short and to the point, and the artwork created by the
Polish art god(s) Graal is sick and superb as usual. I think DEMENTOR have reached their
peak with this one, I just hope they will maintain themselves at this level in the future.
I can't say anything more about this offering. Quality is rare enough these days to be
left ignored so buy the record and enjoy this gem without moderation. DEMENTOR are among
the five best Death Metal bands in Europe. Did I make myself clear?

DEMENTOR hacken sich jetzt schon seit 1988 durch das Underground-Gehölz. Beachtlich! Mit
'God Defamer' steht jetzt Album Nr. 4 der Slowaken auf dem Plan, und natürlich gibt es
wie gehabt brutalen Death Metal auf die Ohren. Litt das letzte Album etwas unter den
überdeutlichen MORBID ANGEL-Anleihen, so hat die mittlerweile zum Trio mutierte Band sich
dieses Mal erfreulicherweise wieder mehr an ihrem zweiten Album 'The Art Of Blasphemy'
orientiert. Selbiges konnte nämlich mit etwas eigenständigeren Klängen aufwarten, und
es war ungestümer und brutaler als 'Enslave The Weak'. Der Einfluss der morbiden Engel
ist zwar natürlich nicht komplett verschwunden (vor allem noch in der Gitarrenarbeit
wiederzufinden), aber doch nicht mehr so offensichtlich. Jedenfalls dürften diese neun
Prügelorgien jeden Todesblei-Fan in Verzückung versetzen. Vor allem die Blastparts
können sich hören lassen, und ausserdem agieren die Jungs auf einem extrem hohen
technischen Level. Auch Fans von REBAELLIUN sollten hier mal reinhören. Und über die
Produktion aus der Klangschmiede von Andy Classen muss man eigentlich keine Worte
verlieren - der Typ hat's einfach drauf.

What an extreme machine is overrunning me - DEMENTOR? Never heard of this name - the band
comes from Slovakia and offers fast stuff a la KRISIUN meets HATE ETERNAL, brutal as hell
and but also pretty precise. Technical brilliancy rules above all as thereís not much
variety. Who survives this album with thorough banging must be insane or is a sort of
super headbanger. Thereís so much thrashing and blasting going on here, thatís a
pleasure to listen to.
Sadly, this storm is soon over after half an hour - or may be you could say, thank God, as
I couldnít listened to this any longer. But I donít mean that in a negative way -
DEMENTOR are absolutely recommendable and this killer album belongs to the better Death
Metal releases in the first half of 2004, but next time please also one or two midtempo
tracks - just to give such whimps as me a little breathing time...

dokazali, ze nalezi do prvni ligy svetoveho Death Metalu.
GOD DEFAMER je opet poradnou snuskou mocne blasfemie, ostatne stejne tak jako v minulosti.
Tentokrat vsak DEMENTOR nataceli v Nemecku a do parady si je ve studiu vzal producent Andy
Classen, ktery z nich vytriskal maximum. A na finalni nahravce je to sakra znat.
Ultrarychle songy jsou nasakle brutalitou a prospikovane agresi takovym stylem, az jde z
toho hlava kolem a usi nechapou. Kam se dnes na Dementor hrabou i slovutni DEICIDE,
jejichz posledni desky nemaji v prime konfrontaci sanci. Rekl bych, ze obcas Blahusiakovo
komando dava na prdel dokonce slavnym MORBID ANGEL!"

"Feed Jesus with the souls of children/Feed the bastard with the flesh of
believers." Not your typical Death Metal lyric, you may notice. Such is the case with
Dementor, a band that musically delves into the worm-laden necropolis, but lyrically
embraces everything that is antichristian. Having experienced more than its share of
personnel changes (no original members are left, although Rene Blahusiak has been around
since 1991), Dementor with God Defamer infuses the international scene with an onslaught
that, while not overtly original or experimental, reminds us all that well-played
brutality still has its place. Drummer Rasto Petrovic spills his blackened soul through
the sticks, creating discordance through a relentless assault on the battery. The
percussion is top-notch, blending blastbeats with solid pounds, although the snare comes
off as a little too muffled. Rasto Schmogner tackles the bass and guitars, with the latter
coming off as a screeching whore. The aforementioned Rene Blahusiak also unleashes his
six-string blasphemer, as well as handing the low-end vocals. The band plays tight and
production is solid. Despite the chaos that serves as this band's principal sound,
Dementor nevertheless astounds with its subtly crafted melodies and musical structures.
Sometimes these harmonies come through during quieter moments, demonstrating that these
Slovaks know what the fuck they are doing. Don't expect explicit experimentation
here-remember, for Dementor, beauty lies in dissonance.
