Originally released in 1999, "Tears from a Grieving Heart" is the debut full-length from Australian funeral doom pioneers Mournful Congregation. Recorded in 1997 and 1998, the album followed the band's early demos "Weeping" and "An Epic Dream of Desire", and marked the first major statement of the sound that would define their career.
Mournful Congregation were already developing the fundamental elements that would become their trademark: extremely slow and heavy guitar work, long-form compositions, sparse arrangements and a strong emphasis on atmosphere.
