Krematorium needs no introduction; the band has achieved a certain level of recognition through its numerous releases. Blutstahl, the sole protagonist behind Krematorium, has improved with each release, thus building a solid reputation. "Tag der Schwerter" (Day of Swords) will be released on CD in the coming days via Christhunt Productions. To give away a little spoiler right away, "Tag der Schwerter" is a truly powerful album. Less raw, but more to the point, Blutstahl presents what are probably Krematorium's best tracks to date. The 10 tracks, including a reinterpretation of Satyricon's "Mother North," are definitely worth a listen. The production is powerful, and the dynamics of each track are striking. Even in its early days, Krematorium was considered a politically uncomfortable and controversial band, a stance they have maintained as much as possible, although they are less outwardly controversial. The songs are all quite simple in structure, but in my opinion, this is precisely what creates a certain recognizability in Krematorium's releases. Over time, the songs have gained in complexity, shedding their raw and unpolished sound in favor of refined details. Anyone who enjoyed their previous releases should definitely check out "Tag der Schwerter" (Day of Swords), as it's my favorite Krematorium album to date, offering the strongest and most diverse work. My personal recommendation, besides the impressive extended version of Satyricon's "Mother North," is the fifth track, "Weltenende" (End of the World). Highly melodic and with a captivating atmosphere, it quickly becomes an earworm.
